What is your capacity
120 guests for the ceremony and sit down wedding breakfast, up to 200 for your evening reception

Ceremonies
We are licenced for civil ceremonies at The Barns including the main wedding barn and outdoor ceremony space by The Grain Store (use of this is weather dependent).

If you would like to hold a more personal ceremony, tailored to you as a couple, we would recommend speaking to a celebrant. Because of the legalities involved with a civil ceremony, there are set scripts and rules on permitted music and readings – having a blessing instead eradicates these formalities. We have a couple of lovely celebrants on our recommended supplier list if you would like to look into this option.

Local registrar
To hold your civil ceremony with us, please book your registrar with the local registry office:
Stevenage Register Office

Sleep
We have 26 bedrooms including our luxury Honeymoon Suite, and a getting ready room available the night prior.

Parking
We have lots of on-site parking for guests.

Nearest Travel Links
We are based in north Hertfordshire countryside just 25 miles from London. Our nearest train stations are Hitchin and Stevenage which are both just under 3 miles away. Luton Airport is also under 10 miles away.

Is there on-the-day support?
We have an experienced and super helpful events team to assist you as you plan your big day. They are available on the day to make sure your day runs smoothly and without a hitch.

Are dogs allowed?
We are a dog-loving venue! You are most welcome to bring your four-legged best friend along for the ceremony, however, we ask for them to be looked after in the ceremony away from the celebrations.

Are fireworks allowed?
Fireworks are not allowed at The Barns due to being surrounded by farming fields and horses.

Is Confetti allowed?
Yes, confetti is allowed, however, we do ask for the confetti to be natural or biodegradable as they are much kinder to our gardens and the environment. Confetti moments are also asked to be taken by the Grain Store only.

Is there disabled access?
Yes, the Barns and Cowshed have access and toilets for disabled and elderly guests. We also have ground-floor bedrooms with disabled access.

Can I host an intimate wedding at The Barns?
Whether you’re envisioning a large, all-the-family celebration or a small barn wedding, The Barns at Redcoats is here for it all. Please do contact our events team to see what’s possible for your bespoke wedding day. For intimate wedding dinners for 16 guests and under we also have private dining spaces across the courtyard at The Farmhouse at Redcoats (subject to availability)

Do I have to use your recommended suppliers?
We have a list of wonderful suppliers that we have worked with previously and can wholeheartedly recommend – if you would like us to send this over to you, please just ask. You do not however have to use anybody that we recommend, you are more than welcome to source your own choices.

Can you accommodate a band or DJ?
Yes, we can indeed. We do not have a sound limiter in the barns and we recommend that they set up in the alcove area as this does not diminish dancefloor space. Should they wish to see this space, we are able to send a floor plan with dimensions or invite them in for a viewing.

Can we plug a device into your sound system?
You can absolutely provide us with a device to plug in and play through our PA system which has speakers throughout our Barns, Cowshed Bar & Garden.

Is the Farmhouse a 'Green' Wedding Venue?
Since opening, The Barns at Redcoats has prioritised eco-friendly practices to minimise our environmental footprint - a journey that we continuously review and improve. We are proud to source ingredients locally from farmers, supporting our community and reducing carbon emissions. As members of The Sustainable Restaurant Association, we are recognised for our environmental initiatives and strive for continual improvement.

Our recent addition of a no-dig garden provides seasonal fruits and vegetables, reducing food miles and showcasing our commitment to organic cultivation and waste reduction. We enrich our soil with homemade, organic compost from our green waste.

Beyond the kitchen, we use 100% natural Bramley products in our guest rooms. Our wild meadow garden enhances local biodiversity, supported by beehives and an insect hotel, reflecting our dedication to fostering a thriving ecosystem and sustainable hospitality at The Barns at Redcoats.
